I have been working in Early Childhood Education for over 22 years. I studied at Massey University in Palmerston North, am a fully registered teacher and I hold my Diploma of Teaching ECE.
I have worked in a variety of services, mostly kindergarten and home-based care and education. I have a genuine passion for Home-based Care and Education. I value the small group sizes and the strong connections formed in these environments between tamariki, whānau and educators and myself. I value teamwork and relationships and believe in a community approach to learning and teaching. I believe these all contribute to the wellbeing of the learning community.
I enjoy working In ECE and leading and supporting my team to be amazing, authentic, nurturing educators. I believe the key to positive learning outcomes for tamariki is to foster warm, caring relationships and connections.
I have a strong passion for nature play and exploration and providing outdoor exploration in a natural environment. These opportunities help foster resilience and social and emotional competence in our tamariki.
I am a mum of three and while previously from Palmerston North I now live with my partner and teenage daughters, Jamie and Kate, in a small rural town in the Tararua district. I am a recent first-time grandmother and very much enjoying this new role. In my spare time I enjoy being in nature, camping and bush walking in our beautiful Aotearoa.
